Welcome to the Matamata Aero Club !  We fly GA, light sport, and microlight aircraft from the Matamata Aerodrome and provide training, including trial flights, type ratings, and BFRs,  in our Tecnam P92 Echo Super aeroplane or others .

The Club has about 45 member, half are GA pilots – the other half are microlight pilots.  We own our small club rooms, a large hangar, and our Tecnam aeroplane. The club is affiliated with FlyingNZ and welcomes pilots from all other NZ flying clubs.

Flight training

We provide training in our own light sport aircraft following the syllabus of RAANZ , who are  delegated by CAA to issue microlight pilot certificates.

We are happy to take you for your first trial flight.
Or we can teach you the skills and knowledge required for a full, advanced microlight pilot’s certificate.  To get the full certificate, a minimum flight experience of 45 hrs is required, but you can do this at your own pace and leisure. Our experienced instructor, will ensure that you are safe and that you have an enjoyable time.

Our current charges are listed here.
